About Your Instructor

My name is Alex Thompson and I live in Concord, MA with my husband, Chase, and our three children: Mack (6), Juliette (4) and Rex (2). I am a licensed Registered Nurse and worked in pediatrics for eight years before I made the transition to stay home. For the past several years, I have been a stay at home mom and I have loved every minute of it! 

As a parent, I have a healthy anxiety about my 3 young children around water. My time as a nurse taught me first hand how critical water safety is. When it came time for my oldest son to take swimming lessons as an infant, I found myself questioning the more traditional “Mommy & Me” swim lessons that were available for him. 

Fortunately, by the time we were ready to start swimming lessons for our daughter, there was an ISR Instructor teaching north of Boston. The best part was that our youngest, who was just one at the time, could take lessons too. I was so excited for the option to have quality, reliable swim instruction that taught my kids not only how to swim, but how to be problem solvers in the water. 

I was so inspired by the skills my children learned through the gentle and intentional work during their ISR lessons I found myself telling all my friends and family about ISR. In recommending ISR lessons, I realized that there weren’t enough instructors in our area. I have set out to change that and to participate in ISR’s mission that “not one more child drowns”. 

I trained to become a Certified ISR Instructor in 2024 under the incredible instruction of Senior Master Instructors Jayme Kreitman and Jessica Harrington of ISR of the Carolinas. 

 I am so excited to bring ISR to the MetroWest area and to put my love for children and swimming together to teach more aquatic problem solvers!
